Joe has been instrumental in the development of the wine industry in Tasmania and has one of the most remarkable life stories. You’ll still find Joe out inspecting the vineyard and working with the winemaking team, as he believes this is the best way to keep tabs on what is happening in the business.

Joe prides himself on building the best possible team around him. He has fostered a close knit team and tries to instil a sense of ownership in his employees. In turn they strive to be part of Joe’s vision to create wine, food and an experience of exceptional quality.

The Josef Chromy Story

Josef fled his war-torn Czech village in 1950 as a penniless 19-year-old after eleven years of Nazi and Soviet occupation. He escaped across borders guarded by minefields, dogs and soldiers, suffering five months of privation before immigrating to Australia.
